US Marines charged with Murder

The US military has charged seven of its marines and a navy medic with murder and with other crimes over the killing of an Iraqi civilian in a village west of Baghdad.

The incident took place in the village of Hamdania on 26 April last year.

The eight men face the possibility of the death penalty if convicted.

They are also accused of planting an AK-47 assault rifle and a shovel next to his body to make it look like the 52-year-old disabled man was planting a roadside bomb.

I bet they get off, hope they dont.

All that I have to say, is that if they did it I hope they are punished for this aweful crime!

My guess is that will get off, just like the Four British soldiers forced an Iraqi teenager, (Ahmed Jabber Kareem Ali, 15,) could not swim into a river at gunpoint and watched him drown.

Of course they'll be convicted, if they're found guilty of their alleged crimes. American service personnel are held to a uniform code of justice, and they'll face penalties if it's shown they committed atrocities. But what about the terrorists who committed the brutal slayings of the two American soldiers in Iraq this week? What trial will they face for their beheadings and eye-gougings? Where's the media condemnation on the same scale of outrage as that of Haditha? You should be blogging about this double-standard. Where's the moral outrage?

I sympathise with all who have died in that war. But you have to look at it from the other side not just one side. As far as the people that killed the two US soldiers during the week, the Iraqis see the US and BRITSH as terrorists. They are in another country killing. And please don’t bringing the crashing of the planes into the twin towers into it, to justify what’s going on in Iraq. For that had nothing to do with them. The only reason people are dieing over there is because Bush is trying to finish something his father started.

Dynamite:

With all due respect, your comments are simplistic. This President Bush has gone way beyond what his father attempted, rectifying one of the biggest mistakes of the first Gulf War -- the failure to march all the way to Baghdad to sweep away the old regime then and there. In any case, you're the one bringing in the WTC attacks, but while you mention it, you're confused if you don't think the GWOT all comes together in Iraq. Think for yourself on these issues. Don't be hoodwinked by the leftist media in this country. We have real enemies that seek to destroy our way of life, yourself included, regardless of who occupies the Oval Office. All of you lefty bloggers should be denouncing the murders this week of Kristian Menchaca and Thomas Tucker! Where's your moral outrage?

probably convict the enlisted but I bet no officer will ever get charged with anything. Same old same old

Murder is murder, whether it's a drive-by gang take out or under the guise of war. They deserve their sentence.
